With 40 employees, this means that Deux Mains directly impacts 320-400 people. IT MATTERS WHERE SHOES ARE MADE! In Haiti, only 15% of the population have a full time job. Yet every student needs a good pair of school shoes.
Making shoes in Haiti makes sense for school children and the crafts people who make them. Every member of the workforce supports 8-10 additional family members directly. With 40 employees, this means that Deux Mains directly impacts 320-400 people.
WHY SCHOOL SHOES
Our shoes are relevant and durable. They were designed to fit local uniform requirements, and made stylish enough for young students to love them. With uppers made from genuine leather, and soles from durable rubber, they are built to last on long mountain road commutes.
The need is overwhelming. NGOs, Non-Profits, Missions & Charities in Haiti have expressed the need for locally made, quality shoes for the students they support, rather than ship them in from abroad.
THE ENVIRONMENTAL/LOCAL IMPACT
In our 100% solar powered factory, every product we craft in Haiti uses up-cycled or responsibly-sourced materials, with the leather being sourced right in Haiti. Behind every shoe is a Master Haitian craftsperson with a unique identity, skill set, and passion for creating products that are made to last.
